Petrol over his soul
by
jimmy rice
He poured petrol over his soul lit up a
smoke and congo-ed all the way to his own
annihilation collecting people on the way and it
didn't matter if they were broken in fact he preferred it if
they were that way he could keep them dancing for
longer... He discovered me when I fell into a bottomless cesspit of
shattered realities he intercepted my decline rescued me
to the top dusted me off turned around and swan dived
back in and he could never understand why I didn't enjoy the
fall But the stakes were too high for me if your going
to play Russian roulette there should be at least one empty
chamber... I was enticed into playing once they looked
like they were having so much fun I didn't want to miss out I ran on
the field loaded with expectations but fumbled the ball on my first touch after
I got pumbled into the ground.... Lying on the sideling licking my wounds
scared for life I realise how lucky I was when I realised they were using
somebody else's head as a ball... I held my breath and made a b-line
for the grandstand and there I stayed Until once he was in
trouble I watched his face turn seven shades of grey and when it reached
blue I screamed for help but no one was listening in a panic I
picked up his ragged body and delivered it across the room at a friend's
feet then screamed at her until she reluctantly put herself on
hold and attended to him grumbling after each
breath... Finally after eternity the first thing he did was tell me
off for interfering but he didn't yell He had a strange
relationship with his emotions I saw him angry enough to kill a man
but never saw him raise his voice I saw him love a thousand people
but he was never in love I saw him hurt into three lifetimes but
never saw him shed a tear He thought it was petty to indulge in
anything but pleasure He was the king of his vicinity and resented
any one who didn't supplicate and was confused by anyone that did because
he could never understand why He held millions of peoples dreams
within his reach but rejected their convention and found his own utopia amongst
the trash He was on a collision course with destruction and as his best friend
all I could do was helplessly wave goodbye"
